Anjali Arora, SVP & Chief product Officer, Rocket Software recently has had an exclusive interaction with ITNewsBuzz Team. Here are excerpts…
ITNewsBuzz: Please take us through the journey of Rocket Software in the Indian market.
Anjali Arora: India is a new market for us after 28 years of steady growth and global expansion. We currently have a great team in Bengaluru and are also hiring aggressively in Pune. In 2018 our goal is to expand in both locations, and we have dozens of open positions at all levels.
ITNewsBuzz: What are the products and solutions Rocket Software has in its portfolio for the Indian market?
Anjali Arora: Our products are sold all over the world through partners and resellers as well as directly. We have a significant partnership with IBM, which gives us a global reach. All of our products can be used in India, but our real focus this year is hiring and building out our teams.
ITNewsBuzz: What difference is Rocket Software making in the industry and how your offerings are competitive?
Anjali Arora: Making a difference is what we are all about. We believe that by treating our customers and partners with love and respect we will be successful. It’s worked for almost 30 years. We make products that solve real problems for our customers, and we never abandon them if things get difficult.
ITNewsBuzz: How do you find India Market? Mention any particular challenges that you are facing in India Market.
Anjali Arora: India is a great market, but what we’re focused on right now is building our teams of experts in Bengaluru and Pune. So far we’re not seeing any challenges – it’s taken us a long time to get here, but we are very excited to be in India.
ITNewsBuzz: What are some of the key challenges when it comes to the changing technological trends in the enterprise segment?
Anjali Arora: Trends are always changing, but the Rocket philosophy has always been to devote our resources and time on what we do best. Don’t follow the trends. Don’t lose focus because something else looks cool. Just solve real problems for real people and everything will be fine. We saw a lot of our early peers and competitors focus on “hot” areas, and we stuck to what we do best. Almost 30 years later most of those companies are long gone, and we have more than 1500 people all around the world.
ITNewsBuzz: With the rapid pace of transformation and transitions happening in the IT industry today, the big bets have been placed on the game-changers – cloud, mobility, IoT, security, social, analytics and big data. How is Rocket Software guiding partners to ensure they define their own future in which Rocket Software’s products/services will play a role in some or all of these areas?
Anjali Arora: Instead of looking at trends, we look at what our customers and partners tell us. We’re not trying to be a “hip” company – we want to make technology that helps real people solve real problems. We certainly play in all of the areas you mentioned, but we approach it from the other side. What motivates us is making our customers surprised and delighted-end platform has almost nothing to do with that.
ITNewsBuzz: Going forward, what will be the growth drivers for Rocket Software business in India? What is your immediate focus and future targets for India & International markets?
Anjali Arora: Our number one area of concentration is hiring. That’s what our 2018 roadmap here looks like.
