Agastya, Verizon team up to empower children through STEM education. Mobile Science Lab starts rolling for 2800 children in Arakkonam, Tamil Nadu
Agastya International Foundation has cooperated with Verizon India for Mobile Science Lab (MSL) for 20 schools that will benefit 2800 understudies in Arakkonam District, Tamil Nadu.
MSL is intended to help STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) instruction in areas from urban communities. Its key goal is to advance the learning of science with examinations and exhibits for youngsters from class 5-9 who have restricted or no entrance to scholastic research facilities generally. The encouraging methodology is steady with the National Curriculum Framework and the themes are adjusted to the NCERT syllabus. Striking features of the activity are:
- School visits: The MSL travels to each school with 100+ hands-on science models covering a wide range of topics in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics.
- Young Instructor Program: Students with a passion for science subjects will be trained to be “Young Instructors”; who will teach their peers.
- Science Fairs: Will be held a few times a year to reach out to a larger group of children covering scientific phenomena and science in everyday life.
- Teacher orientation programs: To instill and nurture creative thinking and problem-solving skills among teachers of participating schools.
